If you like what you have read in Part 1. Crypto.com – Introduction and Review and if you are ready to be part of their growing community, read on.
To begin your journey with Crypto.com, we highly suggest doing it in the following order:
- Download and install the Crypto.com App on your smartphone
- Register and link your account to the Crypto.com Exchange platform
- Download and set up the Crypto.com Wallet on your smartphone (optional)
Although you can install and use any of the three independently above, we think that Crypto.com features and benefits are best realised if the App is used first and foremost. It is after all central to the other two, and should be the first to be installed.
We will not cover the features to keep the steps below uncluttered. To check the details and features of these apps, see the previous part.
Step 1. Installing and Setting Up Crypto.com App
Download and install Crypto.com App from the App Store or Google Play. If you are reading this on your phone, click the button below to go to the App Store or Google Play directly. Or, do a search for Crypto.com. The icon should have a blue background as seen here.
When the download is complete, launch the app.
For New Users of Crypto.com App
You will see an invitation to key in a referral code at this point. You can proceed without a referral code, but keying in a referral code grants free $50 worth of CRO which you can unlock and use later, so we would highly advise that you proceed with this:
After your application is approved, it is recommended that you take a bit of time to explore the app and familiarise yourself with the user interface, or skip to Step 2 below to proceed with the Crypto.com Exchange registration.
For Existing Users of Crypto.com App
If you have installed the Crypto.com App in the past and have been using the App without a referral code all along, perform the following to take advantage of the $50 CRO bonus.
Step 2. Signing Up and Linking to Your Account on Crypto.com Exchange
The Crypto.com Exchange runs on any internet browser (Chrome, Safari etc) and allows you to trade cryptocurrencies on a live active market.
If you have already installed and set up the Crypto.com App above, follow the instructions at How to Register on Crypto.com Exchange for App Users to link your App to the Exchange.
Step 3. Installing and Setting Up Your Crypto.com Wallet (Optional)
We left this for last because the Crypto.com Wallet is optional. If you are already using a user-custodial wallet such as the Blockchain.com wallet or a hardware wallet, you may choose to omit this wallet.
If you would like a private wallet that stores the altcoins we mentioned in Part 1, then the Crypto.com Wallet may be for you. To begin:
Download and install Crypto.com Wallet from the App Store or Google Play. If you are reading this on your phone, click the button below to go to the App Store or Google Play directly. Or, do a search for Crypto.com Wallet. The icon should have a white background as seen here.
Once you have created a new wallet, jot down the passphrase for your wallet and store it somewhere safe, as you would do with any new user-custodial wallet. You can also link your hardware wallet to the Crypto.com Wallet, if you wish.
All Systems Linked and Ready to Go!
Once you’ve completed the above, you will find that the App plays a central role that links all of Crypto.com facilities together.
You can send your crypto assets between the App and the Exchange seamlessly, and because the transactions take place internally within Crypto.com (i.e. off-chain), they are instant and fee-free. It is as simple as going to the crypto in your Exchange account, clicking on Withdraw, and selecting Withdraw to App.
Now that we have the basic facilities of the Crypto.com ecosystem set up, we now discover how bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can be purchased on the App and Exchange.
